Anna (Ivanovna) (1730 - 1740) 1730 - dated Medal or 'Accession Rouble'
Anna was the niece of Peter the Great and after the death of Peter II the Russian Supreme Council made her Empress. She soon became autocratic, and used the feared security police to intimidate those who opposed her. Anna did however continue Peter's policy of westernization and encouraged science and the arts.
